Helsinki, Finland
October 25-26, 2011
The Nordic Environmental History Network will meet for the last time under its current Nordforsk grant to talk about the future of environmental history in the Nordic Countries. This meeting will be devoted to discussing funding strategies for environmental history research; collaborative research projects reaching beyond national borders and single disciplines; venues and strategies for outreach and dissemination of environmental history scholarship; and finally, the role that a regional environmental history network can continue to play beyond the grants that allowed them to start.
Although we will not have formal paper presentations, the workshop will feature several brainstorming and breakout sessions to discuss potential collaborative projects. Therefore, each participant should come prepared to discuss potential future projects, whether they are already in the planning stages or in the early conceptual phase. We hope that the discussion will give participants the opportunity to identify potential Nordic partners and funding strategies.
The meeting will take place in downtown Helsinki, starting with lunch Tuesday October 25, and end around 16:00 on Wednesday October 26. NEHN will pay all or parts of the travel expenses and lodging for participants from the Nordforsk network countries (full coverage for Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Norway, and Sweden; partial coverage is available for Baltic countries). However, we also welcome participants from other countries should you be able to cover your own expenses.
For consideration, send a message to norden@miljohistorie.net. Indicate what kind of research grant proposal or idea you would like to discuss during the workshop. The deadline is Monday September 19, 2011.
